The Emperors Change Clothes: Jupiter enters Scorpio & Saturn enters Capricorn
Group Discussion and Mini-Lectures @ Joyce Beers Community Center (between Panera and Aladdin’s)
Though this summer’s eclipses have garnered a lot more attention recently, two other noteworthy celestial events will dominate astrological discussion this fall: Both Jupiter and Saturn will change signs.
After spending the past year in Libra, Jupiter enters Scorpio on October 11, 2017 for the first time in 12 years. And on December 21, 2017, Saturn will conclude its journey through Sagittarius, which began in Dec. 2014, and enter Capricorn, its ruling sign, for the first time in 29 years. What can we expect to see in our government, in business, banking, education, and immigration as these two planetary emperors don new clothes? And how will these shifts impact you personally?
We want to hear what you think and offer some insights into these important shifts! At our October meeting, SDAS will present mini-lectures by President April Elliott Kent (on Saturn in Capricorn) and Vice-President Loda Shaw (on Jupiter in Scorpio), who will then lead a group discussion about what these planetary sign changes will mean for you and for the world. Here are some questions to help you prepare for the discussion:
- What developments took place in the world and in your personal life as Saturn entered Sagittarius (Dec. 2014) and Jupiter entered Libra (Sept. 2016)?
- Which houses and planets of your birth chart are influenced by Scorpio and Capricorn? What significant life events took place for you when Jupiter was last in Scorpio (Oct. 2005-Nov. 2006) and when Saturn last transited Capricorn (Nov. 1988-Feb. 1991)?
- What historical events seem to you to be related to Jupiter’s last transit in Scorpio and Saturn’s last visit to Capricorn? And can we expect some measure of that history to repeat itself over the next couple of years?
Here is our opportunity to prepare together for these exiting planetary turning points – we look forward to hearing what you have to say!

IMPORTANT NOTE – NO PRE-CLASS THIS MONTH!
Because this lecture will be a class in itself, we don’t plan to offer a pre-meeting mini-class this month. We will resume our pre-class with November’s meeting!
