Marie Schoeppel will present her research on debt crises and currency devaluations with a financial forecast on how US interest rates and China’s corporate debt will interact with one another in 2019-2020 as China’s debt levels become unsustainable. Her forecast will include how China’s financial crisis will impact interest rates and the US stock market, along with specific time periods in which reversals could occur.
The Saturn-Pluto configuration in Capricorn of late 2019 and 2020 will have a profound effect on China. This configuration was last formed in 1284, ushering in a time of financial crisis and social upheaval across Europe over the following decades. At the same time, China will experience a cluster of the same influences that slammed the currencies of Southeast Asia and Russia in 1997-1998, collapsed the British pound in 1992, and deflated the currencies and economies of Brazil and Mexico in the 1980’s. These combined influences will affect China’s corporate debt, property market and currency in particular, with its effects spreading across the global financial system.
How will this crisis affect the United States?
The Federal Reserve’s power to influence global interest rates will be the determining factor for the global economy. Aspects indicate that the Fed will have to move quickly to contain the fallout of the crisis from harming other indebted emerging economies, with an eye to ensuring the continued supremacy of the US dollar. Thus interest rates and currency exchange rates may fluctuate significantly in a short time period. The trick will be to manage interest rates so that the US dollar retains supremacy while not squeezing US domestic banks and companies too much. The US economy may suffer a slowdown, but it will be less of a setback than what China’s economy will experience.
